Pokemon Go players are concerned about their security in light of recent hacking reports.

An increase in the number of reports from Pokemon Go players about their accounts being hacked and compromised has caused worry within the community.

Multiple instances of fans detailing the loss of their accounts surfaced on both Reddit and X/Twitter. The popular subreddit TheSilphRoad in particular was flooded with threads from affected users.

In an effort to regain access to their account, one player shared their story of contacting Niantic through various channels and the emotional distress they have endured from the account hack.

The author expressed their deep sadness and frustration, stating that eight years had gone to waste. They also mentioned attempting to reach out to [Niantic] through support, but were met with the unhelpful response of “Sorry, but we can’t help you.”

Four days ago, a user who was also affected stated that they received a message stating their account did not exist. They attempted to reach out to Niantic support, but only received automated responses.

“Another thread also mentioned that the account was most likely hacked,”stated the same individual. They expressed their disappointment and stated that they would not create a new account again. They also shared their unsuccessful attempts to resolve the issue through official support channels.

One of the affected individuals responded, “This is alarming. It seems like I’ve seen at least 10 posts about this in the past week. I’m starting to question if there was a security breach.”

Similar worries were shared by others. “It seems like this has been occurring frequently to others in the last few days. It makes me question if there was a potential security breach.”

The cause of the frequency of reports is uncertain and could potentially be something malicious. Most members of the community believe that the Pokemon Trainer Club, which is connected to Pokemon Go, is the source of the problem, but there is currently no concrete evidence to support this theory.

The highly anticipated Max Out update for Pokemon Go is set to launch on September 3, bringing with it Dynamaxing and a variety of new Pokemon from the Galar region that were previously unavailable.
