Pokémon Go players are enraged at these ridiculous prices

Pokémon Go players are criticizing ticket prices for the 2024 Go Festival, with many finding them far too expensive.

The Pokémon Go Festival has been announced, bringing exciting adventures and challenges to players around the world. While those in New York, Madrid and Sendai can enjoy an in-person event, those who cannot travel to these cities can explore the online experience through the global event. However, for this you will need a ticket.

Naturally, with Pokémon Go being a free-to-play game, Niantic needs to make money from microtransactions. Usually these take place through the in-game store, but they can also be present through One-time Studies or event tickets, with players having to purchase access to the challenges and accompanying rewards.

Now, as the Pokémon Go Festival is underway, players are fed up with the current prices.

Pokémon Go players denounce “expensive” Go Festival ticket prices

Sharing the release of the Pokémon Go Festival Global ticket on the game’s Reddit, a player revealed the cost of the Global ticket which is €14.99 per ticket.

The event will be active for two days and having a ticket will give you bonus rewards, gameplay, and new Pokémon.

While some shared their excitement for the upcoming adventure, others began criticizing Niantic for its pricing, with fans even comparing it to a standalone video game.

“It’s more expensive than Hollow Knight,” one user commented, putting the price into perspective compared to what you can get from other video games. “This is getting ridiculous,” echoed another player who was quick to criticize Niantic’s microtransaction pricing.

Other players took to the comments to criticize the game for “mythic retention,” referencing the release of Marshadow which is currently stuck behind tickets. However, as other players have explained, it’s likely that you can get Marshadow later in a future event or season.

Ultimately, whether you choose to purchase the ticket or not is an entirely personal choice, but it’s clear that the Pokémon Go community is fed up with rising ticket prices.
