A Pokémon Go player received a postcard of the mythical monstrosity that is the PokéStop Grotesque Pigachu and shared his discoveries with the world.
In Pokémon Go, players can spin PokéStops in the real world to get free items, Eggs, missions, and more. You’re more likely to find them in towns and near tourist attractions, as that’s where people tend to congregate, in order to make the most of PokéStops.
It is also possible for fans to petition Niantic to create a PokéStop. There’s a whole process for requesting a PokéStop, and there’s a chance Niantic will deny the request, but if it’s successful, you might get a PokéStop near you.
Not all PokéStops are tied to prestigious locations, as fans have managed to get some ridiculous PokéStops approved in the past. None are more terrifying than the one that resides in Australia, as it pays homage to an engraved idol of Pikachu.
The Grotesque Pigachu is a horrifying PokéStop
A user on the Pokémon Go Reddit shared the postcard he received from the PokéStop Grotesque Pigachu, which is located in the town of Cabramatta in New South Wales, Australia. It also came with a Gift, although the image was worth more than any item.
Other users in the thread were quick to share their revulsion at the incredible Pikachu ride. “Voldechu I… don’t choose you, stay in your ball you absolute monster,” one user wrote, while another said: “OMG this is disgusting.”
This creature wasn’t always called Pigachu, as one user pointed out. “It was so much better when it was ‘Grotesque Pikachu.’ I don’t like the new name lol. So happy to have a postcard with the original name.”
The Grotesque Pigachu is one of those coin-operated rides that you see in supermarkets around the world. In this case, it’s a horrifying depiction of what the iconic Pokémon looks like, with its carousel-shaped modified body and face given a disturbing human quality.
Pokémon Go players are quick to criticize Niantic for just about everything, but the company can at least be praised for allowing the PokéStop Grotesque Pigachu to stick around. It’s the kind of unofficial item that The Pokémon Company would never recognize, but is adored by fans because they love it for its imperfections.
