It’s usually great to see a new Pokémon Go event added to the community calendar. In-game events can help you complete medals, capture rare Pokémon, and replenish your item bag with handy products.
However, they are not always fantastic. Pokémon Go players recently took to the r/pokemongo subreddit to mock the ongoing Horizons event, highlighting some key issues the community has with the events in the process.

The meme made fun of the fact that popular Pokémon, Paldea starters and hat-wearing Pikachu that cannot evolve, are blocked by RNG. These items have been seen before in Pokémon Go events, so it’s clear that the person behind the post was frustrated with this latest iteration.
Other Pokémon Go players in the responses seemed to feel similar pain, with one person responding, “forced grinds being the highlight of an event is L behavior”and another noting, “Everything else is fine but I am tired of Paldea starters in every event that introduces a Paldea mon” .
Some players have pointed out how frustrating it can be to hunt shinies in Pokémon Go with events like this, with one saying, “the concept of keeping shinies stuck and gradually releasing them”just didn’t make sense for them.
A frustrated Pokémon Go fan said, “Introducing Pokémon without shiny versions should be a serious mistake.”
A few players took issue with the post, with some suggesting that having Paldea starters as a common appearance in the event was great for players who hadn’t found them yet. Others pointed out that the rare Pikachu comes with a new ability, too.
Events are always guaranteed to be at least a little divisive in the Pokémon Go community. This ongoing event has some interesting features, though, so if you’re eager to find Pokémon like Charbambin, be sure to tune in before the 11th. March.
