Pokemon Go players concerned about cheaters “destroying” their communities

The Pokemon Go community is distressed about a group of individuals who are cheating and dominating their town, hindering their ability to fully experience the game. They are now seeking assistance.

Despite the excitement surrounding the World of Wonders season and the constant release of new content during the latest events, certain communities have expressed concern over a recurring issue. Spoofers and multi-account users are hindering trainers from accessing key features, causing frustration among players.

Based on the statements of Pokemon trainers in various subthreads on the Pokemon Go Reddit, it has been reported that there are multiple individuals who are constantly hogging Gyms and preventing others from using them. These inconsiderate players have even been known to hold onto a Gym for an entire day, leaving no opportunity for others to use it. One player who fell victim to this behavior shared, “The players who monopolize the Gyms in my area have been known to kick me out and leave the Gym empty.”

Recently, there has been a rise in the number of reports regarding spoofers and multi-account users, particularly in rural areas. User ‘Wisent96’ shared a similar experience in their community, where two individuals with multiple accounts are continuously spamming Gyms and causing permanent blocks. This problem has apparently been ongoing for a year.

Niantic’s code of conduct clearly states that Multi-Accounting is considered cheating.

According to reports, these supposed cheaters are continuously disrupting the gameplay for other players, depriving them of a regular Pokemon Go experience. “In certain areas, we see the same player repeatedly, making it clear that there is a large number of individuals using multiple accounts, despite it being against the rules,”expressed a player who is concerned about the situation.

According to the Niantic Terms of Service, it is explicitly stated that using multiple accounts for the same Service is considered cheating, as it alters or interferes with the Service.

If the issue persists without a resolution, it is likely that members of this community will ultimately have to make the difficult decision to permanently stop playing Pokemon Go. As one member expressed, “Niantic refuses to hear our concerns. It may be necessary to force them to listen by quitting the game for good.”

If you have observed a similar issue in your area, you can seek assistance through the appropriate channels, such as Niantic Support X Account or the official Pokemon Go page.

If you are currently searching for the next Pokemon Go event to join, you can refer to the current Raids Schedule and upcoming Spotlight Hours for this month. In the meantime, you can also check out other activities.
