Pokémon Go players demand an end to Raid desertions

Pokémon Go players have once again begged other trainers to stop being afraid and quit Raids, as they are tired of losing easy Raids and wasting their passes.

Pokémon Go player achimpinspace has once again appealed to other players to “stop quitting Raids!” This has become a common trend among players, where trainers often leave Group Raids because they don’t believe they can win and get the rewards.

The player described his frustrating experience: “I was in a group of seven (myself included) and everyone left within 5 seconds, I couldn’t react in time. That’s a wasted Ranged Raid Pass because you think it takes 20 trainers to beat one of the easier ‘hard’ Raids in the game.”

“Prime-Groudon has a x4 weakness against water, a splash could eliminate it but people continue to be fearful. To say I’m furious is an understatement.”

The community quickly joined in to share their annoyance: “Here’s an idea. If you are going to abandon a Raid, do so before the last 30 seconds. This gives everyone the chance to not lose Raid Passes.” Others came up with various solutions that worked for them.

A popular suggestion was to “create a battle team without Pokémon. Swipe towards this team during the countdown. When it reaches 0, you will not enter the Raid, you will not use a pass yet. When you notice everyone leaving, you can then escape without using a pass.”

Despite trainers praising this Raid trick, with one saying, “Not all heroes wear capes,”others criticized Niantic for this being an ongoing problem in the first place.

One player responded: “While this is a great workaround, users shouldn’t be forced to implement lame workarounds for what is essentially a design flaw in the game’s UI. Alas, it is better than nothing, because it is unlikely that Niantic will do anything to improve the user experience for the situation described by the author.”

Another pointed out that “you can get your passes back if you have proof they’re gone,”which you can do by emailing Niantic directly through the app and providing screenshots. This is what one trainer did: “Thank God I had proof and got my pass back. My boyfriend told me because I was visibly upset after using my coins that I had saved from beating arenas.”

Niantic has long been known for not making changes or improvements to Raids or other existing features in Pokémon Go. This left the community convinced that the developers would not implement an official in-game solution in the future.
