Pokemon Go Players Express Frustration Over “Half-Baked” Beldum Max Raid Battles

Pokemon Go’s Max Raid Battles are once again causing frustration among players, particularly due to the ongoing Psychic Spectacular event.

As part of this limited-time event, Dynamax Beldum has begun appearing in Pokemon Go’s Power Spots. Players who defeat this Psychic/Steel-type have the chance to catch and evolve Beldum into the powerful pseudo-legendary Metagross, which is also capable of Dynamaxing.

However, players have voiced their dissatisfaction regarding several technical issues they have faced while attempting to participate in Max Raid Battles. The most significant problems include crashes and unreliable dodging mechanics.

“Once again they managed to rush out half-baked content,” stated a highly upvoted comment on Reddit, adding, “They clearly invested resources in the feature, so wouldn’t it make sense to ensure it actually works?”

It’s important to note that participation in Max Raid Battles is restricted to in-person events, with no options for remote play available. It remains uncertain if Niantic plans to introduce remote play features in the future. Additionally, only Pokémon that can Dynamax are eligible for participation in the core gameplay of Max Raids.

“Had Beldum Raids crash multiple times on me today. It would quite happily take my Max Particles and give the middle finger in return,” shared another user in the same Reddit thread. Many players feel that they are essentially playtesting the content rather than Niantic, noting, “The thing with Niantic is we are the playtest… They just put stuff out with spit and duct tape and hope it works.”

Losing Max Particles due to game crashes is particularly frustrating, especially considering the limit on how much currency players can earn within a 24-hour period.

Niantic has a history of providing compensation for issues encountered by players, but it is yet to be seen whether the widespread nature of these current issues will warrant any compensation this time.
