Pokémon Go players have expressed their frustration with the low number of shiny Pokémon encountered during the Lunar New Year: Dragons Unleashed event.
Lunar New Year: Dragons Unleashed, Pokémon Go’s latest event, began on February 5 and ended on February 12. The event celebrated the Lunar New Year and offered a range of unique bonuses including additional Candies and an increased chance of obtaining Lucky Pokémon from trading.
However, the Lunar New Year event was criticized for its lack of Dragons and shortage of Dragon Raids despite the event’s promise to focus on Dragon-types. For wild encounters, only three types of Dragons appeared: Minidraco, Babycaille and Sonistrelle, although Venalga also appeared, whose evolution is of the Dragon type.
Reflecting on the over event, Pokémon Go trainers are now criticizing another aspect, saying the lack of shiny spawns was a huge disappointment.
Pokémon Go fans disappointed by the lack of shiny during the event
Following the conclusion of the recent Lunar New Year event in Pokémon Go, players have voiced their opinions on Reddit regarding what they feel is one of the most disappointing omissions from the event.
Am I the only one who didn’t see, let alone catch, ANY shiny’s during the dragon event??? byu/Impossible_Tap_1852 inpokemongo
Expressing this disappointment on Reddit, one fan asked: “Am I the only one who didn’t see, let alone capture, ANY shiny during the dragon event???» before adding, “Literally none.” None from the henchmen. None during raids. None of the hundreds I’ve caught while walking around and playing at home. I feel a little cheated, no lie.»
One of the most upvoted comments posted, “I only got one Griknot😭 I really milled around during Minidraco’s feature hour and didn’t even see a single shiny. Very disappointing.»
Other trainers of the same opinion responded, “500+ caught every day, only found a shiny Minidraco,”as well as “All I wanted was a shiny Ptyranidur.”Maybe next time,” and, “I didn’t get any either.” You are not alone… 😔» many players seeming not to encounter the Pokémon they wanted.
Seeking to offer an alternative perspective, one comment asked, “Do you usually receive multiple shinys in a normal week?”The chances haven’t been increased, so it should be the same,” pointing out that this event never promised to improve the chances of finding shinies from the start.
Still, the consensus is one of disappointment, with Pokémon Go players feeling that the lack of shiny Pokémon was a missed opportunity that ultimately limited the potential of the Lunar New Year event.
