Pokémon Go players hate this new update

With a new update currently rolling out to Pokémon Go players across the world, the changes appear to have “completely disoriented”the game for some older devices.

After more than seven years, Pokémon Go can still surprise players with major changes, and one of the most significant graphical overhauls is currently underway in parts of the world.

In an attempt to adapt the graphics to the player’s environment, new biomes are currently being added to the game, better adapting to the world around the trainers to provide more immersion.

However, it seems that the changes to the game pose some problems, especially for Pokémon Go players using older devices.

Latest Pokémon Go update causes issues for some players

Several Pokémon Go players have spoken out in this Reddit post, initiated by a user called u/LightofHeaven00 along with the comment, “Yes- New Biome rolling out in the UK.”

Many comments below the post share their issues with the update, with one comment saying, “Drains battery life and is extremely laggy, and can’t even turn it off properly.”

Another comment added, “I find it unplayable now. I can’t even spin and throw a ball.” Then, even more problems seem to crop up, with one person adding, “The frame rate when fighting is bad now but when capturing it’s completely confusing. As a PvPer player, I might struggle without changing phones.”

It seems like the new graphics are causing huge issues for some players with older devices, which is sad to see for a game designed for younger players without as much money.

A final comment adds, “I keep going through a rock. It’s really frustrating and I can tell my phone is not happy. Zero lag, but it’s new. It would have killed my old phone.”

For now, it appears that the new graphics settings are still in the testing phase, so if issues continue to arise for players, hopefully Niantic will make adjustments that will help older devices.
