Pokemon Go Players: Mega Rayquaza Elite Raids Accessibility Concerns

Niantic has announced that Mega Rayquaza will be making a comeback in Pokemon Go. However, fans have expressed their dissatisfaction with the developer’s choice to restrict access to this Gen 3 Legendary through Elite Raids.

Similarly to regular Raids, Elite Raids adhere to a strict set of rules. However, unlike regular Raids which can be joined remotely and have no Gym restrictions, Elite Raids require players to be physically present and must be completed within 45 minutes during 4 designated time slots every day.

Players who reside in isolated regions, without access to any Elite Gyms, are effectively excluded from participating in the content. This development has sparked discussions among fans on Reddit, where one user referenced a past event featuring Primal Groudon and Kyogre that was not hindered by Elite limitations.

“The post expressed frustration, stating that it seems as though Niantic is intentionally trying to disappoint and anger players. Despite the fact that Elite Raids are widely disliked in the game, the addition of Mega Ray to these raids was still chosen by the company.”

“Not long ago, there were two successful Raid Days for Primal Groudon and Kyogre. So, why did they have to deviate from that pattern and end up messing up Mega Ray?”they asked.

The responses have been filled with sympathy.

“One reply pointed out that the maximum energy per raid was only 100, meaning that realistically one would have to do approximately six elite raids. The commenter also added that the game seemed to favor players living in big cities.”

“The speaker expressed their frustration, noting that even in a large city, it can be difficult to participate in raids without any connections. They mentioned relying on online raid hosting and assistance from friends in rural areas, but have yet to join Elite or Shadow Legendary raids.”
