Reaching the max level in a game should be a fun and rewarding experience – but according to some Pokémon fans, it’s not worth the effort when it comes to Pokémon Go.
Getting to max level in Pokémon Go is no easy feat. It takes a serious amount of dedication with the amount of XP required and daily play time, and it can often seem unattainable as a casual player. Reaching level 50 should, in theory, be rewarding and worth the effort.
A Pokémon Go player recently took to r/pokemongo to excitedly share that he had reached level 50, and other Pokémon players took the opportunity to criticize the rewards the game offers for maxing out his character.

Pokémon Go player Connor_M95 posted that he had reached max level on Reddit, sharing a screenshot of the level-up screen with all the rewards and the caption “What a feeling!”» He noted that he had been playing since day one and was excited to join the “50 club.”
Many other Pokémon players in the replies congratulated the OP on reaching level 50, with one person saying: “Congrats man, that must be amazing……I’ve been playing since October last year and I’m at level 35, hope to reach level 50 soon” and another commenting: “Huge congratulations!»
The mood quickly changed in the responses, however, with a large portion of readers noticing the rewards given for reaching level 50. One Pokémon Go player pointed out “Am I the only one who finds the rewards disappointing for the final level?»
Another commented that 5 eggs, a few jackets, Poké Balls and some candies seemed insignificant after reaching level 50, saying: “Come on, after all the money it must have taken to reach level 50 give us something more than a sturdy event box to finish the game with.”
Some of the rewards are arguably better than others, but the one that was particularly criticized by players was the Lucky Egg. If you don’t know, Lucky Eggs double the amount of XP you earn for a specific duration – which isn’t really great if you’re at max level.
One frustrated player pointed out that, “Lucky eggs are also funny because while levels above 50 may be a thing one day, right now it’s a useless thing to receive at that level”and others felt inclined to agree.
It’s understandable that players might feel frustrated after investing so much time and effort to reach level 50. Something more exciting like rare encounters or events, or even a useful item like an egg incubator Additional information could make this more valuable in the eyes of the community.
