Some PokeStop Showcase rewards in Pokemon Go are being criticized by players for having highly inconsistent quality, varying from being valuable to being quite ordinary.
Last year, Niantic incorporated various additional elements into Pokemon Go, such as the introduction of PokeStop Showcases. These enable players to display their captured creatures and vie for prizes, while also giving greater significance to the sizes of Pokemon, particularly XXS and XXL.
Despite their popularity, PokeStop Showcases have received criticism for their inconsistent rewards. Players have voiced concerns about the varying rewards for winning or placing in the top three in each Showcase.
One player on Reddit questioned the inconsistency and lack of excitement in showcase rewards. They pointed out that while sometimes a second place finish earns an incubator, two first place finishes only resulted in 9 ultra balls and a golden razz berry.
Obtaining Ultra Balls and Golden Razz Berries is possible through regular gameplay actions such as spinning PokeStops and defeating Raid bosses. This may make them less valuable to certain players, especially when compared to Incubators, which are significantly more difficult to acquire outside of the Pokemon Go Shop.
Additionally, many players are unable to make room for unimpressive rewards due to the limited capacity of their Pokemon and item storage, and the need to spend PokeCoins on expansions.
Many individuals have also reported receiving inconsistent Showcase rewards; while some obtained Incubators or Super Incubators, others mainly received Ultra Balls.
After analyzing the rewards, a few players speculated that the duration of the Showcases may have an influence on the rewards. One player noted, “It seems like the longer the Showcase, the better the rewards. For example, a 3 day showcase would likely yield better rewards than a 1 day showcase.”From this observation, it can be inferred that those who receive Incubators are likely to participate in longer Showcases.
However, the main issue that continues to frustrate Pokemon Go players is the inconsistency of the rewards from showcases. These showcases have the potential to provide rare rewards, especially for those in rural areas who are often overlooked and face challenges in the game. Unfortunately, the current state of PokeStop Showcase rewards is so unpredictable that it is difficult to determine if participating is worth the effort.
