Pokémon Go players steal XP via cruel trick

Pokémon Go players are furious with the game’s developers, Niantic, because problem players can still exploit an in-game feature and steal their XP reward.

Pokémon fans have always been one of the most dedicated fan bases, and that proved to be no different with their mobile game Pokémon Go.

Although millions of people enjoy playing Pokémon Go every day, players have often voiced their complaints. This has included anything related to both new and existing features related to negative changes, disappointing rewards, needed improvements, or even various persistent in-game bugs.

One of these glitches, long abused by problem players, allows them to take away another trainer’s rewards and miss out on a serious amount of XP. This sparked outrage from the community, who heavily criticized Niantic for not yet fixing this cruel trick.

Pokémon Go fans are angry after players continue to steal their XP

Pokémon Go player ChrisSOAD revealed a screenshot showing them reaching the milestone of becoming another trainer’s Best Friend.

However, this showed him receiving 0 XP, instead of the 50,000 XP he would have received and 100,000 XP if a Lucky Egg was used. He sarcastically posted alongside the image: “Awesome, what a sight.”

This happened because another player, who he teamed up with to complete the Friendship milestone, removed him from their friends list before he claimed the rewards. This resulted in him receiving 0 XP.

Fellow Pokémon trainers, who have shared a similar experience on numerous occasions, were outraged and united in criticizing Niantic for yet to fix the ongoing issue and the players in question.

One player said: “I don’t even understand the rush to remove people, it’s unbelievable. Wait at least a day out of simple human courtesy.” As the author responded: “He’s my first Best Friend too so I was wondering what the reward for that was going to be. I saw 0 PX and I was like ‘great’.”

“A big f**k you to the person who deleted you, like what’s wrong with keeping Best Friends? Unless he’s full of friends, which is probably not the case since he loves to delete people immediately.”

Others have directly targeted Niantic, “shame on Niantic for allowing this to continue to be a problem”, with many repeating that “it makes no sense”that this hasn’t been fixed yet. Another said: “Niantic should correct this obvious fact. Surely, it shouldn’t be difficult to code the game so that you still receive XP even after being deleted.”

Despite the fact that some reveal that they are “lucky” to have Best Friends that they often use in the game without deleting each other, this remains a constant problem for Pokémon Go players. So, make sure to Be careful with who you try to become Best Friends with in the game, to avoid losing those hard-earned XP rewards.
