Pokémon Go players criticize certain shiny versions of Pokémon, to the point that many hate these variants so much that they refuse to evolve them.
In both standard Pokémon and Pokémon Go, shinies are generally the pride and joy of a Pokédex. Other than a Hundo, the magnificent variant Pokémon allows players to show off a fairly rare catch.
Due to this rarity, they are generally extremely sought after, with fans using Community Days and raids to obtain a shiny.
However, not all shiny are created equal, and many fans have previously criticized certain creations for being far too similar to their non-shiny counterparts. In fact, it has reached a point where players are refusing to evolve some of their Pokémon due to the “disappointing”shiny designs.
Pokémon Go players criticize “horrible” shinys
Posting their frustration on Reddit, a Pokémon Go player shared the stunning shiny Water Lily, along with an image of its unimpressive shiny evolutions, which barely look different from the original design.
“Who else has experienced this?” the player asked, expressing his displeasure after seemingly evolving his Water Lily into a disappointing Shiny Shadow.
Hundreds felt the same frustration and commented to criticize countless shiny designs.
“I will not upgrade my Elektek for this reason. If I have unique shinys, I only evolve them if the next step is cooler,” explained one player, who holds back his Pokémon and refuses to evolve it into a worse shiny.
This sentiment was shared among other players, with one revealing how they “will literally never evolve my Parecool shiny because of this.”
Another explored the disappointment of Snubull’s shiny design: “Oh my god, I was going to say the exact same thing! I was expecting something much cooler, but then a big disappointment.”
The design of shiny Pokémon has been a much-discussed topic among Pokémon for years, and it’s clear that the community is growing increasingly frustrated, especially when it comes to evolving into something they wish they could. Cancel.
