Pokemon Go players want “stupid” Shadow Raid feature removed after frustrating glitch

Despite being a common occurrence, trainers are enraged by the persistent glitch in Pokemon Go Shadow Raids that prevents them from successfully completing battles. As a result, the community is urging game developers Niantic to remove this problematic core mechanic from the Shadow Raids feature entirely.

Despite being a popular feature in Pokemon Go, Shadow Raids have faced criticism from players due to a recurring glitch. This glitch hinders the ability to use Purified Gems to calm down the enraged Raid Boss and defeat the overpowered Shadow Pokemon, causing frustration among players.

After months of no resolution for the frustrating bug, trainers such as Reddit user ‘Breezer_Pindakaas’ have grown fed up with the excessively challenging Shadow Raids. This ultimately led the OP to share their frustrations in a post on Reddit, stating, “It’s time to do away with the shadow raid gem mechanic.”

Other trainers joined the discussion in the comments to support the original poster’s statement and noted that the Shadow Raids themselves have multiple problems to address.

A user expressed frustration with the unnecessarily challenging system. The first step requires obtaining gems, which can only be obtained by grinding for a week with another player, assuming they are available. In the best case scenario, one would have to fight 20 times to earn just 10 gems from GO Rocket grunts.

Despite claims that they did not work on the enraged Boss, many still ran out of Gems during Shadow Mewtwo Raids in March 2024, leading others to criticize the purified gem mechanics as “stupid”and a “gameplay failure”.

In addition, several trainers faced the loss of their Raid Passes when the Shadow Raid was unsuccessful. It should be noted that a Shadow Raid cannot be battled from a remote location and can only be accessed in person, causing even more frustration for fans who put in effort but received no rewards.

Some players have completely stopped participating in these battles, while others have expressed their desire to distance themselves from them. One player even stated, “I hope Niantic removes the Shadow Raid gem mechanic from the game.”

It is yet to be determined if the Purified Gem glitch has been resolved in Pokemon Go. However, in the meantime, you can still obtain powerful Shadow species from Team Go Rocket and their leader Giovanni.
