Pokémon Go players want a QoL (Quality of Life) feature added to the game to eliminate one of the most annoying and frustrating aspects of gameplay, although Niantic is unlikely to remove it.
Pokémon Go has a vocal fanbase that constantly demands changes, whether in response to the Remote Raid Pass controversy or the request for QoL changes, such as the ability to skip animations.
One aspect of Pokémon Go that is often criticized is hatching Eggs. In Pokémon Go, you need Incubators to hatch an Egg, and each Incubator has a limit on how far you can go before the process is complete. There are limits to the number of Eggs you can carry before you have to hatch some to make room.
As Pokémon Go always adds events, like the upcoming Sinnoh Tour, which sometimes changes which Pokémon hatch from Eggs, while also increasing the spawn rate of Chromatics. This comes with problems, however, leading fans to demand changes.
Pokémon Go players want to remove Eggs
A user on Reddit TheSilphRoad created a thread asking Niantic to allow players to delete Eggs. This would give players the chance to empty their selection in preparation for a big event, or simply pull out Eggs with a group of annoying Pokémon.
“I’m pretty sure they’ll never do that. Maybe, just maybe, they could consider an option where you could temporarily opt out of receiving new eggs,” one player suggested, while another said: “Eggs are their gacha and the 2nd most valuable game mechanic in terms of revenue.”
There is a monetary reason why Niantic wants to keep this mechanic, as various users have pointed out. “I wish I could remove eggs but I suspect Niantic will never give us that option,” one fan wrote, “They care more about their revenue from selling incubators than our convenience.”
While it is possible to earn Incubators through different tasks, it is easier to purchase them directly from the in-game store. The fact that players cannot remove Eggs means that you must gradually work through them to free up space, especially since the type of Eggs you receive is random.
The monetization aspect of Eggs in Pokémon Go means that the current mechanic is unlikely to change any time soon. This means that players will have to do a lot of manipulation before events, or be prepared to spend money to speed up the cleaning of their current Egg storage.
