Pokemon Go: Please Add Option to Cut Down Animations

To ensure players continue playing for an extended period, Pokemon Go aims to incorporate a quality of life feature that prevents any interruptions during gameplay.

The core Pokemon games often feature frustrating gameplay elements, such as the sluggishness of Pokemon Diamond & Pearl or the bothersome beeping sound when a Pokemon’s health is low in the first generation titles.

Despite being a finite problem, these issues are not meant to be a deterrent as you will eventually move on to other games. However, the intention of Pokemon Go’s creators, Niantic and The Pokemon Company, is to keep you engaged and hopefully encourage you to make in-game purchases.

In pursuit of this goal, fans are requesting for quality of life improvements that enhance their daily gameplay experience. Specifically, they are seeking the option to bypass repetitive animations that they frequently encounter.

On the Pokemon Go Reddit, users have specified the animations they wish to bypass, including those for Shadow Shards, Purified Gems, Team Rocket Go encounters, spinning PokeStops, and catching Pokemon.

In order to improve the Gifts feature in Pokemon Go, several adjustments could be made. The excessive number of unnecessary animations and the lack of a mass sending/receiving option make the mechanic cumbersome to use, especially for players with a large Friend List.

It may be difficult to request animation skips from Niantic, as The Pokemon Company removed this feature in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet. This means players must endure lengthy turns, especially when dealing with status effects and weather conditions on the field.

Trimming (or offering the choice to trim) long animations in Pokemon Go may be a strategy to appeal to fans and generate positive sentiment, which the game is in desperate need of, especially in light of the current player avatar controversy.
