To participate in Max Battles using the Dynamax feature, Pokemon Go players must have a thorough understanding of Power Spots and the process of acquiring Max Particles. Therefore, all the necessary information will be provided in the following section.
The start of the latest Max Out season brought a plethora of exciting content. This included the addition of the Sword & Shield Dynamax feature, which transforms ordinary Pokemon into massive creatures.
With the upcoming Go Big event, players will witness the debut of Dynamax Pokemon. In order to participate in Max Battles, players must understand the workings of Power Spots and how to obtain Max Particles.
Power Spots Explained
The newly added Power Spots are designated areas where Dynamax Pokemon can be found. These locations are marked on the map as new spots and do not replace any existing Gyms or PokeStops. They can be easily identified by a purple marker and a large ‘X’.
Unlike Gyms and PokeStops, these locations are only temporary. As a result, they will move to different areas of the map every few days, depending on their timers.
Power Spots serve as the necessary destinations for players who wish to participate in strategic Max Battles, capturing Dynamax Pokemon and earning various rewards. Nevertheless, each battle requires players to pay a predetermined amount of Max Particles beforehand.
The number of Max Particles needed for a Max Battle may differ depending on the featured Pokemon. For instance, Dynamax Bulbasaur, Charmander, and Squirtle each require 250 Max Particles.
Max Particles: A Guide to Earning and Using Them
Max Particles, also known as MP, are a recently introduced resource in the game that players must continuously collect in order to participate in Max Battles at the Power Spots. Each Max Battle will require a specific amount of Max Particles that may vary. These will only be used up upon defeating the Max Battle Boss.
There are two ways to obtain these Max Particles:
- Through engaging with Power Spots.
- By accessing the Power Spots tab in the ‘Nearby’ menu and walking to claim them.
Each time a player interacts with a Power Spot, they will receive 100 Max Particles. Walking two km will award them with 300 Max Particles. Additional MP can be obtained by completing the To the Max! Special Research or purchasing the Max Particle bundle, which will be available in the store on September 8, 2024.
Every Dynamax Pokemon has the option to use three different Max Moves. The first one, Max Strike, is an offensive move that is automatically available. The remaining two moves, Max Guard and Max Spirit, can be unlocked by exchanging 400 Max Particles and 50 Candy for each move. These moves provide shielding or healing abilities.
In addition to taking part in Max Battles and unlocking moves, players have the ability to increase the power of their Max Moves from Level 1 to Level 3 by utilizing their Max Particles.
LEVEL 1 TO LEVEL 2 COST | LEVEL 2 TO LEVEL 3 COST | |
---|---|---|
MAX MOVE | – 600 Max Particles– 100 Candy | – 800 Max Particles– 40 Candy XL |
Max Particles restrictions
It is important for players to know that there is a maximum amount of Max Particles that they can collect in one day. This limit is set at 800 MP. However, if players visit seven Power Spots and collect the 700 MP, and also claim the 300 MP from walking two kilometers, they can surpass the daily limit.
Remember that if you have a Power Spot nearby, you can only receive one set of Max Particles from it per day. This is because you are limited to one interaction per Power Spot each day.
