Get ready to put on your thinking caps and prepare to use your skills to catch some Psychic-type Pokemon! Niantic has announced the return of the Pokemon Go Psychic Spectacular event for 2024, featuring exciting new additions to enhance the gameplay experience.
This season of Pokemon Go, dubbed Pokemon Go Max Out, spotlights the Galar region and the Pocket Monsters introduced in Sword & Shield. This year’s Psychic Spectacular event introduces the new Pokemon Hattena, along with its powerful evolutions and new Dynamax Pokemon.
Event Dates & Times
According to the official Pokemon Go blog, the Psychic Spectacular event kicks off on Wednesday, September 18, 2024, at 10:00 AM local time, and runs until Sunday, September 22, 2024, at 8:00 PM local time.
Debuting Pokemon
During the Psychic Spectacular event, three brand-new Pokemon will make their debut, and there will also be updates to the current Dynamax Pokemon roster:
Introducing Hattena
The event is live, allowing Pokemon Go players to encounter Hattena. This Galarian Pokemon, along with its first evolution Hattrem, features Psychic typing, while its final form, Hatterene, is both Psychic and Fairy-type.
Hattena can be found in the wild, in 7 KM eggs available during the event, and as rewards for completing event-themed Field Research tasks and the Psychic Spectacular Collection Challenges.
To evolve Hattena into Hattrem, players need to use 25 Hattena Candy. Hattrem can then evolve into Hatterene with 100 Hattena Candy. As of now, none of these Pokemon have a Shiny variant.
Dynamax Beldum
The Steel and Psychic-type powerhouse Beldum will now be appearing in Max Battles, enabling players to catch one and evolve it into the formidable Metagross for tougher encounters.
Considering its Steel-type traits, Trainers should consider using Dynamax Charizard during this battle to exploit type advantages against Beldum. Niantic has confirmed that Beldum in Dynamax Battles may also appear in its Shiny form.
Wild Spawns
Psychic-type Pokemon are roaming freely, so prep your Poke Balls to capture the following Pokemon during the Psychic Spectacular event:
- Ralts*
- Spoink*
- Gothita*
- Solosis*
- Elgyem*
- Spritzee*
- Swirlix*
- Inkay*
- Morelull*
- Hatenna
Pokemon that can be caught in their Shiny forms are indicated with an asterisk*.
Event Eggs
The following Pokemon will hatch from Eggs during the event:
7 KM Eggs
- Mawile*
- Chingling*
- Espurr*
- Hatenna
Field Research Encounters
The Psychic Spectacular event will feature specific Field Research tasks that allow players to encounter various Pokemon. Notably, Morelull encountered through Field Research has an increased chance of being Shiny compared to those found in the wild.
By completing Field Research tasks, Trainers can encounter:
- Gothita*
- Solosis*
- Elgyem*
- Spritzee*
- Swirlix*
- Morelull*
- Hatenna
Collection Challenges
Prepare to catch a variety of impressive Psychic-type Pokemon and earn rewards along the way.
Completing the Psychic-themed Collection Challenges will grant players Stardust, XP, and additional encounters with Hatenna.
Event Bonuses
Players can benefit from the following bonuses during the 2024 Psychic Spectacular event:
- Double Stardust for catching Pokemon.
- Extra Candy for Nice Throws or better.
- Enhanced chance for Trainers level 31 and above to obtain Rare Candy XL for successful catches with Nice Throws or higher.
Premium Timed Research Tasks and Rewards
Trainers can purchase a Premium Timed Research ticket for $1.99 or local equivalent, which includes tasks that must be completed and rewards claimed by the end of the event to avoid losing them.
The Psychic Spectacular Premium Timed Research ticket features the following tasks and rewards:
- Make 25 Curveball Throws – 1x Star Piece
- Make 50 Curveball Throws – Morelull encounter
- Make 10 Great Curveball Throws – Morelull encounter
- Make 20 Great Curveball Throws – Morelull encounter
- Catch 25 Psychic or Fairy-type Pokemon – Morelull encounter
- Catch 50 Psychic or Fairy-type Pokemon – Morelull encounter
- Hatch 1 Egg – 1x Incubator
- Hatch 2 Eggs – 2x Incubator
Rewards include: Hatenna encounter, 15,000 XP, and 1x Super Incubator.
Furthermore, there will be Pokestop Showcases focused on event-themed Pokemon, so prepare your best Pokemon to earn fantastic rewards.
