Niantic has revealed that the upcoming event for Pokemon Go’s current Shared Skies season will center around Egg and Fire-type Pokemon and will be called Scorching Steps.
This Pokemon Go event draws inspiration from the Flame Body ability in the mainline titles, which also aids in hatching Eggs. As a result, Fire-type Pokemon will be more readily available during this event, in addition to other bonuses and the introduction of a new Shiny.
Pokemon Go Scorching Steps Dates and Times
The Scorching Steps event will take place from 10 am on Friday, June 21, until 8 pm on Tuesday, June 25, 2024, in local time.
This will align with the Community Day Classic on June 22, which appropriately focuses on the Fire-type Johto starter Cyndaquil.
Scorching Steps Eggs & featured Pokemon
Larvesta is undoubtedly the highlight of Scorching Steps, as its Shiny form makes its debut during the event. The Torch Pokemon can be found in 2 km, 5 km, and 10 km Eggs for hatching.
During Scorching Steps event, there will also be a chance to hatch the following Pokemon, with an asterisk indicating those that may appear as shiny.

Event Bonuses
The benefits of Scorching Sands include decreasing the Hatch Distance and increasing the likelihood of hatching specific species as Shiny.
Players who participate in the event while playing Pokemon Go will receive the following bonuses:
- From hatching Eggs, you will receive 2× Candy.
- During the event, the distance required for eggs to hatch will be reduced by half when they are placed into incubators.
- During the event, the Pokémon GO Egg hatching widget will reduce the Egg Hatch Distance for the first three Eggs that are hatched by 1/4.
- The likelihood of encountering and hatching Shiny Slugma and Shiny Litleo has been raised.
Scorching Sands Field Research & Timed Research
During the event, Scorching Sands will offer players the opportunity to engage in Field Research and complete tasks. As a reward, the following Pokemon will be available:
- Slugma*
- Litleo*
- Turtonator*
An additional feature will be an event-specific Timed Research that focuses on hatching Eggs in order to receive the following rewards:
- Stardust
- XP
- Encounters with event-themed Pokémon
The Timed Research challenge was activated on June 20.
