Pokemon Go teases return of most powerful Legendary in Raids

The highly-anticipated Mega Rayquaza will be arriving in Pokemon Go earlier than anticipated, all thanks to a teaser found by a vigilant player.

Despite its absence, Mega Rayquaza remains the top attacker in Pokemon Go with unparalleled stats that surpass any other Pokemon in the mobile game. However, there are hints from Niantic that it may make a comeback to Raids, providing players with another opportunity to obtain this legendary Dragon/Flying type.

The speculation arose after a Reddit user named ‘Fillain’ shared a post about the teaser, stating, “I came across this image on the Google Play Store. It seems like Mega Rayquaza may be featured in the upcoming raid day on the 29th.”

The post quickly grabbed the interest of numerous Pokemon Go enthusiasts, who shared their thoughts in the comments section.

“Following the Primal Groudon/Kyogre Raid Days, it would be logical for us to also have a Mega Rayquaza Raid Day as Rayquaza is known to balance and keep those two in check,”one player mentioned. Another chimed in, “There are rumors circulating that a Mega Rayquaza Raid may occur after the conclusion of Go Fest’s scheduled hours.”

Some also pointed out that the inclusion of Go Fest 2024 is logical because the event will debut the Legendary Necrozma, which is also prominently shown in the image.

It is worth noting that in order to Mega Evolve Rayquaza, you will need both Mega Energy and a special item called a Meteorite, which teaches it the Charged Move Dragon Ascent.

As a result, a trainer suggested, “It is our hope that Niantic will provide us with another complimentary meteorite through a special research (not a timed one), allowing us to teach Dragon Ascent and Mega Evolve our first Rayquaza with 400 mega energy.”

Some fans speculated that the OP Legendary might not make an appearance at Go Fest, but instead be released during a Raid Day event in June, following the pattern of Primal Groudon and Kyogre’s release in April.

Players noted that Ponyta, Lapras, and Elekid, three of the other Pokemon featured in the image, were part of the costumed Team Leader event. This event also included their shiny forms, as pointed out by players.

While anticipating Mega Rayquaza’s comeback in Pokemon Go, be sure to also learn how to obtain other formidable Legendaries such as the fusion forms of Necrozma, Dusk Mane and Dawn Wings, during Go Fest 2024.
