Pokemon GO Tour: Unova Introduction of Black Kyurem and White Kyurem

Trainers, gear up! Black Kyurem and White Kyurem are set to make their debut in Pokémon GO during the highly anticipated five-star Raids for the Go Tour: Unova. Here’s everything you need to know about these powerful Dragon-types.

The Background of Kyurem in Pokémon GO

In December 2023, an exclusive opportunity arose for players to acquire Black and White Kyurem through the Go Battle League Rewards. However, this feature was inadvertently released, leading to limited accessibility for the players. Now, with the upcoming Pokémon GO Tour: Unova, players will have a renewed chance to engage with these formidable Pokémon.

Launch Date for Black and White Kyurem

Both forms of Kyurem will make their official appearance in five-star raids starting on March 1, 2025. Their debut will take place first at the events in New Taipei City and Los Angeles before a global rollout during the event’s worldwide celebrations.

According to an announcement on the Pokémon GO Live website, Trainers will be introduced to the concept of Pokémon fusion, allowing them to experience the unique mechanics associated with these legendary creatures.

Understanding Pokémon Fusion

Fusion in Pokémon GO is facilitated through DNA Splicers, enabling select Pokémon to merge into more powerful variations with their unique designs. Specifically:

  • Black Kyurem: Achieved by fusing Kyurem with Zekrom using 1,000 Volt Fusion Energy alongside 30 Candy each from Kyurem and Zekrom.
  • White Kyurem: Created by combining Kyurem with Reshiram using 1,000 Blaze Fusion Energy along with 30 Candy each from Kyurem and Reshiram.

It’s important to note that once Kyurem has fused, it will remain in that form unless Trainers choose to separate them—a process that does not require additional Candy or Fusion Energy.

Catching and Fusing Kyurem

Upon successfully defeating either Kyurem in the raids, Trainers will have the chance to catch the unfused version of these Pokémon, and for the fortunate, a Shiny variant may also be available.

Prepare your resources and strategies as you set out to fuse Kyurem and its counterparts, Zekrom and Reshiram, for what promises to be an exciting addition to your Pokémon collection!
