Pokémon Go trainers want egg system reform

Pokémon Go players are asking Niantic to add a new way to get rid of their unwanted eggs, and fans can’t help but embrace the idea.

Eggs in Pokémon Go can be a frustrating element for many players. Fortunately, while they may seem like a burden to many, they can offer players some useful egg-exclusive Pokémon to help expand that Pokédex. Alternatively, it can also help you catch a few easier Pokémon for these candies, if you transfer them afterward.

However, many fans can’t ignore the problematic nature of Pokémon Go’s eggs, especially when they clutter your inventory space and prevent you from hatching the ones you need for those new or exclusive Pokémon.

Now fans are calling for major changes to the mechanic.

Pokémon Go players want to be able to transfer eggs

Sharing their frustration on Reddit, one user joked that “professor would love to study Pokémon eggs,” before adding that “Niantic should let us transfer them.”

I bet the professor would love to study some Pokemon eggs. Niantic should let us transfer them… byu/BiscuitsAndGravy808 inpokemongo

Eggs are often a point of contention for players, especially due to the different variations and the inability to discard them like you would Recalls, Poké Balls, or other abundant resources.

The poster continued to joke: “What kind of professor studies Pokémon, but has absolutely no interest in their eggs? I’m sure once Niantic realizes this they will allow us to transfer the eggs to him. I mean, it’s not like they’re using eggs as a loot crate system, and making money selling us incubators, right?”

It’s worth mentioning that Eggs are a version of loot crates, with RNG determining their outcome rather than any particular tactic. So, many fans spend a lot of this resource to get what they want, making the whole thing quite tedious, especially if you don’t currently have any eggs you want to hatch.

Other fans quickly agreed with the player, and some even offered their own ideas for solving the egg problems: “I wish we had some sort of ‘base’ where we could leave Poké Balls and other objects that would also have an egg incubator(s) that would incubate based on time, perhaps like one hour per km required. The base needs to be connected to WiFi or something and can only be moved very rarely,” one user suggested.

Another asked Niantic to add a new feature to the game, highlighting the idea of transferring eggs: “We’ve seen Professor Chen in Pokémon Go related things before, so having Professor Elm appear if that feature was implemented would make complete sense.”

However, others weren’t too fans of the changes, with some commenting that it’s all about “how you prioritize hatching”rather than anything else.

Either way, adding Professor Orme would definitely be a popular choice for fans of the older games, and being able to transfer eggs for rewards could be ideal, but Niantic hasn’t revealed anything yet.
