Pokemon Go Update 0.331.0 Fixes Bugs While Disrupting Go Plus Functionality

Pokemon Go players are reporting that the mobile game’s 0.331.0 update has disrupted the functionality of Go Plus devices.

On September 16, developer Niantic released the 0.331.0 patch for Pokemon Go, which included release notes that promised various bug fixes and improvements aimed at enhancing user experience.

However, many Trainers have reported that while the update resolved some issues, it also introduced new ones. Players using the auto-catching Go Plus have stated that the device fails to function correctly when a Pokemon is not currently in focus.

One player shared their experience on Pokemon Go Hub, noting, “As soon as you switch tasks or lock the screen, the device disconnects within a minute. When you reopen the game, it starts working again.”

This same user further elaborated on their problem on the TheSilphRoad subreddit, mentioning that they attempted various workarounds without success. Even uninstalling the game or resetting their devices could not rectify the situation. The subsequent 0.331.1 update released on September 19 also failed to provide a solution.

A temporary fix appeared to be reverting to Pokemon Go’s earlier 0.329.2 version. Unfortunately, Niantic has since made the latest update mandatory, leaving those with malfunctioning Pokemon Go Plus devices unable to revert and forced to wait for an official fix.

This issue does not seem to be isolated; multiple users on Twitter/X have reported that their Go Plus devices have been malfunctioning over the past few days.

One player remarked, “No wonder it wouldn’t do anything while the game wasn’t in focus.”

Another user added, “It’s the same case with Go ++ as well…”

Conversely, some players have indicated that their auto-catchers are functioning properly, even after the most recent updates for both Android and iOS. As a result, it remains unclear how widespread the issue is, particularly since Niantic has not yet acknowledged it at this time.
