There seems to be a major issue with the 0.317.0 update of Pokemon Go, causing players to struggle with even the basic task of catching Pokemon.
The pursuit of catching all Pokemon is becoming a nightmare for trainers of Pokemon Go due to the recent update 0.317.0. This update has introduced a major bug, making it difficult for trainers to successfully execute Poke Ball throws. This issue has caused widespread concern among players.
Many players are facing difficulties in successfully executing Excellent, Great, and Nice Throws, and some are even unable to make their Poke Balls touch the Pokemon. A user known as ‘SwagPatrol’ shared this issue on The Silph Road subreddit with the title “Pokeball collision point is BEHIND the Pokemon in 0.317.0.”
The original poster noted that, in addition to the update making Excellent Throws extremely challenging, the collision point has been shifted further back, behind the Pokemon.
Upon observation, it was discovered that Crabrawler, which was heavily featured in the Spelunker’s Cove event, had a tendency to hide the Poke Ball behind its claws, preventing it from making contact with the species.

Other trainers of the popular mobile game Pokemon Go also shared their own experiences, describing it as “terrible”and “frustrating.”One individual even expressed gratitude for the post, stating, “I was curious why my throws have been so off lately, I can’t even seem to make basic great throws anymore!”
Some users also reported experiencing difficulties completing Field Research tasks that involved making a specific number of throws, as Excellent Throws were now landing within the catch circle. Additionally, one user tested this issue on a Grimer and found that even regular throws were colliding with the Pokemon behind the circle.
No matter if you are trying to make Excellent Throws or just a regular throw, the Poke Ball does not successfully land within the catch circle that grants extra XP for accurate throws.
Additionally, the bug is also impacting individuals who attended the Go Fest 2024 Madrid, causing one player to lose six out of their ten Remote Raids due to being unable to catch the Raid Boss.
Despite the upcoming Go Fest Global event, which is set to feature the highly anticipated debut of the Dusk Mane and Dawn Wings fusions of Necrozma in Raids, many Pokemon Go players are still reverting back to the previous app version in the hopes that the concerning bug will be fixed as soon as possible.
