The 2024 Pokemon Go World Championships will feature the first appearance of the rare and powerful Pokemon Mienfoo in its Shiny form, as well as increased chances of encountering other rare and powerful Pokemon.
The preparations for the Pokemon World Championships, which will take place in Hawaii later this month, are underway as Niantic works to ensure that Pokemon Go is ready for the event.
Niantic announced their plans for the World Championships 2024 event on August 1. Along with new encounters and two debuts, the event will feature special avatar items that can be unlocked through a code or scavenger hunt once it begins.
In the upcoming event, there will be Raids, encounters, and event bonuses to look forward to.
Dates & times
The 2024 Pokemon Go World Championships will take place from Friday, August 16, 2024 at 10:00 AM until Tuesday, August 20, 2024 at 8:00 PM in local time.
New Pikachu Costume and Shiny Mienfoo
According to Niantic, the only noteworthy introductions at this event will include a Pikachu sporting a 2024 World Championships-themed outfit and a Shiny Mienfoo.
The Pikachu may be Shiny.
Encounters
The following paragraph provides a list of Pokemon that can be encountered at a higher frequency:

- Lickitung*
- Marill*
- Paldean Wooper*

In addition, players may also encounter a regular or Shiny Skarmory.

During the event, the following Pokemon will appear in Raids:
Raids Rated with One Star

Three-star raids are still available.

An asterisk is a signal that a Shiny encounter may occur.
Shadow Raids will be taking place.
One-star raids are characterized by their level of difficulty, which is relatively low compared to higher level raids.

Raids with a Three-Star Difficulty

Featured attacks
During this event, a variety of Pokemon will be encountered, all of which possess the following Pokemon.
- Lickitung: Charged Attack (Body Slam)
- Mienfoo: Charged Attack (High Jump Kick)
In addition, four Pokemon (Altaria, Charjabug, Quagsire, and Talonflame) will also receive Featured Attacks when they evolve.
- Altaria: Charged Attack (Moonblast)
- Charjabug: Charged Attack (Volt Switch)
- Quagsire: Charged Attack (Aqua Tail)
- Talonflame: Fast Attack (Incinerate)
Event bonuses
The World Championships will see the implementation of the following bonuses:
- A maximum of five Special Trades can be completed per day.
- A Charged TM is capable of assisting a Shadow Pokémon in forgetting the Charged Attack Frustration.
Field Research task rewards
Additionally, there will be Field Research tasks centered around the event which will grant you the following rewards:
- World Championships 2024 Pikachu*
- Swablu*
- Mienfoo*
- Mareanie*
Furthermore, Niantic will be introducing fresh avatar merchandise, Showcases, and a Timed Research that can be purchased for $5.00 USD (or the equivalent amount in one’s local currency).
