Pokemon Go’s 8th Anniversary Event Criticized as Extremely Disappointing by Players

Pokemon Go players are renowned for their vocal nature within the broader Pokemon franchise, particularly when expressing disappointment with events that fail to meet their expectations.

Although certain Pokemon Go events are thrilling and offer a chance for players to catch elusive creatures, others may cause frustration. This may be a result of restricted rewards, scarce spawn rates, or unappealing content that does not interest players.

Despite the excitement for the upcoming 8th Anniversary celebration, there have been a few complaints from players who are not satisfied with the featured Pokemon and rewards. This issue was brought up in a recent fan discussion where a Pokemon Go player shared an official Niantic infographic on Reddit, sparking a debate about the event.

Although some players were happy to encounter Grimer, Muk, and Meltan during this event, others were annoyed by the limited variety of spawns and bonuses. One player even went as far as to call it a “non-event”, expressing disappointment with the offerings. Another concurred, stating, “This is incredibly underwhelming.”

The party hats also became a topic of discussion during the debate, as one person expressed their exhaustion with them and their desire for Pokemon that can be transferred to Home. They went on to say that receiving a shiny Pokemon with a hat nowadays only brings them sadness.

“Adding onto the conversation, another player mentioned that while they didn’t have a problem with Pokemon wearing hats, they would prefer to see more impressive options like Mewtwo. The thought of Mewtwo sporting a visor is quite amusing and doesn’t seem out of reach for a potential future event.”

The dissatisfaction expressed in this discussion was not solely focused on the party hat Pokemon. The 8th Anniversary event will heavily feature starter Pokemon, causing disappointment for some individuals.

One disgruntled player commented, “Here we go again, another event filled with common starters, including those from Paldean.”Sadly, others noted that their beloved Pokemon had yet to make an appearance in these events, with Scorbunny being a top contender.

Despite all the frustration, a few players remained enthusiastic about the upcoming event. As one reader pointed out, “There are definitely some great perks there!”

Some others were also in agreement, with one individual complimenting Niantic by stating, “To be honest, this event seems much more enjoyable than I had anticipated”and another expressing their excitement as a new player specifically.

The event bonuses can serve as a useful means of maximizing your collection and advancing your level-up process.
