Since July 2024, there has been a noticeable increase in this odd phenomenon of players attempting to place their Pokemon in unclaimed Gyms only to be swiftly removed. In the past, these ousted Defenders were quickly replaced by members of rival teams, but now, these Gyms remain empty for extended periods of time.
To obtain the daily cap of 50 PokeCoins, it is necessary to have Defenders remain in Gyms for a minimum of eight hours. However, if Gyms are cleared within minutes, no Coins will be earned.
The repeated incidents have been causing frustration among all individuals, causing Reddit users such as ‘c4mh4z3’ to question whether it should be brought to the attention of Niantic Support.
Similarly, some individuals noted that they have also experienced the same thing, and like the original poster, they are also perplexed.
According to the players, there is a gym located a few streets away from them where this issue continues to occur. They are unsure of who is responsible for keeping the gym empty, and they have observed that no one is occupying these vacant gyms.
As additional similar incidents were brought to light, users discovered shared experiences, with no one being seen taking control of the Gym.
It is important to be aware that spoofers utilize third-party applications to alter their location to any destination in the world. Despite this being a violation of the terms of service, Niantic frequently takes action to ban these players. However, there are always individuals who continue to engage in this behavior in the Pokemon Go community.
Critics have accused players of employing the “tactic”of preventing others from collecting Coins from Gyms simply because they are unable to do so themselves. Furthermore, the increasing prevalence of this behavior has raised concerns among the public.
According to a person’s revelation, it seems that spoofers are not the only ones being suspected. The person shared that they and their husband used to intentionally take over gyms in their town to taunt possessive players, and enjoyed watching the chaos unfold in local chat groups.
If you wish for your Gyms to be more challenging to defeat, consider making additional friends on Pokemon Go and utilizing sturdy Defenders such as Goodra or Blissey.
