The developers at Niantic have set restrictions on all of the free aspects of Pokemon Go’s gameplay. Although they may appear frustrating and enforced, they are ultimately for your benefit.
Pokemon Go offers numerous free-to-play (f2p) options, such as capturing Pokemon, placing them in Gyms to earn PokeCoins, strengthening your preferred ones for Raids and the Go Battle League, and many other features.
These features are the fundamental mechanics of the game, designed to appeal to both inexperienced and experienced players. However, they are subject to certain limitations, which are not well-received by the community.
Although the limit of 50 PokeCoins per day from Gyms is widely known, there are other restrictions that may not be as familiar, such as the maximum number of Gyms where you can place your Pokemon and the highest number of catches possible per day.
Reddit user ‘RmvblDsk’ was surprised to learn that trainers can only have their Pokemon in a maximum of 20 Gyms at once.

This sparked the anger of other players who criticized these restrictions, stating, “It’s ironic how they feel the need to place a cap on every aspect of the game that doesn’t require spending money.”
Despite appearing inconvenient, this is actually a positive development. The Gym serves as a safeguard for casual players against their more dedicated counterparts, who tirelessly dominate every Gym and leave no opportunities for others to earn their fair share of 50 Poke Coins.
This cap also prevents single-account spoofers, who use anti-ToS methods to change their location, from monopolizing hundreds of Gyms and preventing regular players from fully enjoying the game Pokemon Go.
In addition, it was stated that these regulations serve to limit the amount of Candy and XL Candy that can be obtained by Buddies through Adventure Sync, ensuring that players can also obtain them by catching Pokemon.
Ultimately, many players fail to recognize the significant impact the cap has on preventing abuse. As one player stated, “Limits are necessary to prevent exploitation, which is not an unreasonable measure.”This ultimately promotes a level playing field and maintains a healthy gaming environment for all players.
As you attempt to catch all of the Pokemon in Pokemon Go, remember to also keep an eye out for the active Legendaries and Ultra Beasts in Raids, including the newly released ones in Go Fest 2024.
