Pokémon Go’s New Adventure Effects Already Being Deemed “Stupid”

The announcement of the all-new Adventure Effects mechanic in Pokémon Go sparked excitement among fans, but some players pointed out that upcoming feature might not be as good as it looks.

The Tower of Sinnoh 2024 event in Pokémon Go is imminent and this long-awaited extravaganza brings new Pokémon, Original Dialga and Original Palkia, into Raids alongside their signature attacks.

That’s not all, as Pokémon Go is set to introduce a new gameplay mechanic called ‘Adventure Effects’ which is activated when trainers use the signature attacks of these two Legendaries with Super Candies and Stardust, unlocking attractive bonuses for a certain duration.

When Original Dialga uses Howl of Time, it increases the duration of certain items, such as Incense, Star Pieces and Lucky Egg. On the other hand, when Original Palkia uses Spatio-Rift, it increases the Pokémon encounter distance.

While both bonus sets look great on paper, players aren’t convinced they’re as “interesting”as they appear to be.

After Reddit user ‘gfox446’ posted a screenshot of the official Pokémon Go blog highlighting the Adventure Effects mechanic and wrote: “This is actually cool!!”several users expressed a different opinion in the comments section.

Commenting on the bonus features, one fan said: “Very expensive for 6 minutes. Trainer Tips Nick calculated it. It will cost 1.2 million dust and 1200 candies to use the Adventure feature for an entire day. Hooray for the whales (spenders)… Useless for everyone else. I mean, maybe using it for 6 minutes a day is fine, but that’s about it.”

Trainer Tips is a famous Pokémon Go YouTuber and their analysis has caused the bonuses to be criticized. “For Dialga, freezing the stopwatch is nice but expensive. For Palkia – doubling the spawn radius just doesn’t seem interesting,” one user mentioned.

Another added: “I mean are you going to put 1200 candies in a 24 hour incense? And 1.2 million pieces of dust? I think it’s stupid.”

A fan also pointed out how painful the candy requirement for Legendaries is. “You lost me triggering effects with CANDY for a Legendary. 20km for a barely perceptible and very average bonus? No.”

While waiting for the Sinnoh Tower 2024 event, you can try to obtain rare species such as Frigodo and Pyronille in Pokémon Go.
