Pokemon Legends Z-A: Could Changing Brutal Mega Lore Alter the Game?

Pokemon Legends Z-A: Could Changing Brutal Mega Lore Alter the Game?

Ever since the logo appeared in the trailer for Legends Z-A, Mega Evolutions have sparked much discussion within the Pokemon community.

Despite consistently causing excitement among players, the beloved battle gimmick of Mega Evolutions is often overshadowed by the surprisingly dark Pokedex entries associated with them.

This subject was brought up during a discussion among members of a community, where a player humorously pointed out the contradiction between Megas being dependent on strong bonds with Trainers and Pokedex entries describing the excruciating process for Pokemon.

For those who are not familiar, most of the Pokedex entries for Mega Pokemon emphasize the excruciating process they go through during Mega Evolution. The series also suggests that a strong bond between a Pokemon and their Trainer is necessary for Mega Evolution to occur.

A fan tried to connect the two ideas by stating, “In my opinion, Mega Evolution may be uncomfortable, but the Pokemon have enough faith in their trainer to endure it.”

One person added, “I understand it as meaning that choosing to remain in their Mega form can lead to pain and potentially even death for the Pokemon. However, the Pokemon has faith in their Trainer to end the form before any lasting harm is done to their body.”

Several players also expressed their opinions on Megas overall and how the release of Pokemon Legends Z-A could have a lasting impact on them.

One individual remarked, “While I generally like the designs for Mega Evolution, the implementation was lacking and I am hopeful that Z-A will bring something intriguing to the table,”elaborating that it was nonsensical for the mechanic to not have an impact on affection and criticizing the poorly planned distribution.

Some also suggested, “In my opinion, Mega Evolution and other gimmicks should have a friendship requirement or mechanic. For example, reaching a certain level of happiness or friendship to unlock Mega Evolution, for a stronger Z-Move, Max Move, and Tera Boosted move damage. The higher the friendship, the greater the damage.”

There were even speculations that the more sinister Pokedex entries in newer games featuring Mega Evolutions were a deliberate move to distance themselves from the gimmick used in battles in the past.

With the reintroduction of Mega Evolutions in Pokemon Legends Z-A, now may be the perfect opportunity to revisit and potentially revise their controversial lore.

Despite no official confirmation about changes to Mega Evolutions, the release of a new game, particularly one that deviates from the typical mainline series, provides an ideal chance for experimentation and innovation. It will be intriguing to witness the appearance of Megas in Pokemon Legends Z-A upon its market debut.
