The official announcement of Pokémon Legends ZA is fueling fan theories, and players think it’s time to get a new Eevee evolution.
Trainers are more than excited for the upcoming Pokémon Legends ZA after its official announcement during Pokémon Day 202 4. The sequel to Pokémon Legends: Arceus will take players back to Kalos on an adventure set entirely in Illumis and mark the return of the Mega-Evolutions.
Players are still analyzing the only teaser trailer released by The Pokémon Company, trying to find clues about what’s to come in the franchise. Many are also attempting to decipher Pokémon Legends ZA’s timeline as well as its starter Pokémon, among many other elements. However, others are already thinking ahead, theorizing about upcoming debuts, new Mega Evolutions, and more.
Reddit user ‘RealMcCoy0816’, on the other hand, thinks a new Eevee Eevee is on the way and has some compelling arguments: “My theory is that we’re going to get a Steel-type Eevee to balance out with Nymphali,”they wrote, and added, “I think this goes with the (little) information we’ve gotten about the game, specifically about ‘urban development’.”
The author of the post then explained his logic: “In generation 2 we had Mentali and Noctali, day and night, psychic and darkness. Darkness is super effective against psychic. Generation 4 gave us Phyllali and Givrali, summer and winter, plant and ice. Ice is super effective against the plant. Steel is super effective against the fairy. Also, they introduced Nymphali to Kalos, so introducing them as a pair would make sense.”
Each new Pokémon game fuels the theory behind a new evolution for Eevee. Nymphali is the latest Eevolution in the franchise and was introduced in Gen 6, over ten years ago. Reddit user ‘TimidStarmie’ thinks “it would be crazy for Pokémon not to continue Eevolutions”at some point, but they don’t think a new one will debut “in a Legends game.”
Some players think a Dragon-type Eevolution could be next, while others are pinning their hopes on a Ghost-type. Another trainer commented, “As long as I want a Dragon-type Eevolution or a Bipedal Fighting-type, my expectations for a new Eevolution are EXTREMELY low.”
One Reddit user explained “all eevolutions are based on special types,” meaning the only type left to cover is Dragon. Dragons are sometimes a part of legends and myths, so getting a Dragon-type Evolve in a Pokémon Legends game could also make sense in terms of lore.
Finally, many trainers are beginning to believe that a convergent form for Eevee is in the works. “Not sure about the specifics, but I think there’s a real chance we’ll get a Convergent Eevee that evolves into the other types,” one trainer commented. This would allow the “new” Eevee to evolve into Physical types and bring a whole new set of Eevee to the franchise.
Of course, this is all speculation and wishful thinking for now, so we’ll have to wait and see what happens to Eevee in Pokémon Legends ZA when it releases in 2025.
