Pokemon Red, Blue & Yellow: How to obtain all HM moves (Cut, Surf & more)

Pokemon Red, Blue & Yellow: How to obtain all HM moves (Cut, Surf & more)

Although the original three versions of Pokemon are almost thirty years old, there is still a strong desire among many people to revisit the classic Kanto adventures. Additionally, with the multitude of Pokemon to discover and routes to explore, it can be challenging to recall the locations of everything.

In contrast to contemporary titles such as Pokemon Scarlet & Violet, a significant aspect of the original games is the inclusion of Hidden Machines, or HMs. These special items allow Trainers to teach their Pokemon moves that not only have an impact in battle, but also affect the overworld.

In the games, Cut allows players to cut down trees, Surf enables traversal of Water, and Strength is able to move boulders. These abilities are crucial for completing any of the games, and regardless of whether you’re playing Pokemon Red, Blue, or Yellow, it is necessary to acquire all of them.

With our complete guide, you can learn the exact locations of each HM and how to properly utilize them.
