Pokemon Scarlet & Violet devs finally reveal shiny odds for Mass Outbreaks

The odds of encountering shiny species during Mass Outbreaks in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet have been confirmed by Game Freak in a recent post on the official Pokemon site.

During a journey through a Pokemon region, particularly while on a catching spree, one may encounter a surprise appearance of a shiny Pokemon. This is due to the rare spawn rate of shiny Pokemon, which is only 1 in 4,096 in the Scarlet and Violet games.

Recently, an official blog post by Game Freak and The Pokemon Company revealed the odds of catching shiny Pokemon in Mass Outbreaks, which is considered one of the most effective methods in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet.

These rare occurrences take place sporadically in the wilderness and have the ability to generate multiple Pokemon of the same species within a single in-game day. The Pokemon fanbase has noted since the launch of Scarlet & Violet that these are among the most effective techniques for capturing shiny species, and this has now been confirmed.

In addition to being an official announcement, the information was revealed through a Reddit post by user ‘finn_shavocado,’ who noted that this implies the maximum odds after 90 knockouts, not 60.

The official confirmation states that players have the best chance of encountering a Shiny Pokemon after receiving the message “There are not many [Pokemon] left from the original outbreak…”This message appears after defeating a certain number of Pokemon.

Despite the lack of an official confirmation on the precise number, there is ongoing debate within the community about whether the count is 60 KOs or 90 KOs. One user pointed out that the cap occurs at 60 KOs, while others supported this by noting that the message about there being “not many [Pokemon] left from the original outbreak”primarily appears after defeating 60 Pokemon.

Ultimately, The Pokemon Company has officially confirmed the optimal time for players to catch a shiny creature.
