After the Indigo Disk incident, certain trainers of Pokemon Scarlet & Violet are expressing worries about the reliability of Master Balls in the future.
As renowned among Pokemon experts, the Master Ball remains the penultimate Poke Ball in the franchise. Its unparalleled success rate in capturing any Pokemon makes it the ideal option for those elusive Legendary creatures.
Fortunately, trainers have plenty of chances to obtain these elusive creatures in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet. In fact, The Pokemon Company has generously offered free Master Ball distribution events, allowing trainers to obtain an additional Master Ball on top of the one they receive through the main story.
Despite concerns from some trainers, the Indigo Disk DLC has raised questions about the Master Ball’s invincibility in future games.
Players who have completed the Indigo Disk DLC may recall that in both expansions, Kieran, the protagonist’s rival, makes an effort to capture Terapagos using a Master Ball in a pivotal cutscene.
Later on, the exact same Master Ball malfunctions for the first time in the series. This caused a concerned trainer to turn to the game’s community on Reddit and inquire, “Considering how easily obtainable Master Balls are now and the fact that Terapagos managed to break free from one, do you believe future games will no longer guarantee a 100% catch rate?”
With the ease we now have of getting Master Balls, and the fact Terapagos actually escaped one, do you think in future games they will no longer have a 100% catch rate? byu/Mediocre_Metal_7174 inPokemonScarletViolet
Despite some trainers being insistent, the general belief remained that using a Master Ball would continue to have the same effectiveness it has always had.
It’s highly unlikely that the Master Ball, a staple in the games, will be changed at this point,”remarked a fan.
In a humorous observation, another fan noted that the Pokemon anime depicted a Whiscash consuming a Master Ball in the episode “Whiscash and Ash”from the Ruby & Sapphire series. However, no changes have been made to this aspect in the mainline series.
Some individuals wisely observed that the Master Ball’s failure was not due to its own mechanics, but rather the influence of Terapagos and its Tera Energy.
One fan explained that the Master Ball always works as intended when in the hands of a player. Even in the situation where Kieran ordered it to Terastalize and it went berserk, the Master Ball successfully caught Terapagos. However, when Kieran attempted to recall Terapagos, it was able to resist and break out of the Master Ball.
Although the breaking of a Master Ball did serve as a compelling plot element in the Indigo Disk, it is unlikely that Game Freak will deviate from tradition in future generations.
