Pokemon TCG Caster Seeks Assistance Following Hurricane Debby Devastation

Pokémon TCG event caster and YouTuber Shelbie ‘Frosted Caribou’ Bou has reached out to her community for assistance after her home was devastated by Hurricane Debby.

Hurricane Debby was the second hurricane of 2024, making landfall on August 5 and impacting Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, and North Carolina. The storm caused extensive flooding throughout these states, including significant damage to the creator’s residence.

Frosted Caribou, a seasoned Pokémon TCG caster, announced on September 18 that she has launched a GoFundMe page to raise funds for the repairs and labor needed to restore her home in Georgia, with estimated costs exceeding $50,000.

“Last month, I had to urgently evacuate my home due to flooding from Hurricane Debby that brought in hazardous amounts of toxic sewage water… Since my property is not classified as a flood zone, I was not obligated to purchase flood insurance when I bought the house. Unfortunately, despite my attempts, I have been unable to obtain financial help via my homeowner’s insurance, as all my claims and appeals have been denied,” she stated.

The creator shared the extent of the damage caused by the hurricane in a video on her social media, revealing how floodwaters introduced worms, fish, and eventually mold into her home.

She mentioned that she has been sleeping on an air mattress in the second story of her home as she “can no longer afford a hotel.”

Despite the circumstances, the Pokémon TCG caster is continuing to participate in tournaments, appearing in broadcasts for the Baltimore Regional and the 2024 Pokémon World Championship. Frosted Caribou is actively seeking additional casting events and local jobs to support herself and fund the repairs on her home.

In the meantime, she has paused content creation, with her last video uploaded on May 11, 2024.

“All donations will directly contribute to making my house fully habitable and operational again. I am thankful for any financial assistance, no matter how small. Since I cannot afford these repairs on my own, every little bit helps,” Frosted Caribou emphasized.

The current goal for her GoFundMe campaign is set at $25,000, with $1,079 raised at the time of writing.
