Despite being marketed as a premium collection, many Pokemon TCG fans have expressed disappointment in the Charizard ex Super-Premium Collection, citing its subpar quality as a major letdown and a waste of money.
Pre-orders for the highly anticipated Charizard ex Super-Premium Collection, a new TCG product, were made available on July 18 at Pokemon Center. According to the listing on the storefront, shipments for this product will begin in early October 2024.
Priced at $79.99, the collection boasts a foil Charizard ex promo card, two foil cards featuring Charmander and Charmeleon, a card-display Charizard figure, a code card for Pokemon TCG Live, and 10 TCG booster packs with 10 cards and one Basic Energy in each pack.
Despite the admiration of many Pokemon fans, there are some who believe that the collection is too expensive, particularly upon examining the Charizard figure included in the package.

After viewing images posted on the fan site PokeBeach, a user made a disparaging remark, stating, “The box may look nice, but the content is terrible. It’s not worth the money.”
During the discussion, another individual referred to it as “dog water,” expressing concerns about the upcoming launch of the Ultra Premium Collection in November 2024 due to its perceived low quality.
Fans reacting to the PokeJungle news page were not pleased with the announcement of the Charizard ex Super-Premium Collection. A comment on the Twitter/X post argued that the product was not worth its price.
Some others criticized the potentially low quality of the figure, as one user noted that “the fire isn’t even emanating from his mouth correctly.”
Despite some criticism, there are still those who are excited for the upcoming Charizard-centric release. In the PokeBeach forums, a commenter expressed their positive opinion of the collection, stating that it “looks pretty good”and even complimenting its “nice figure.”
In addition, another individual suggested that these types of releases often appeal to individuals who are buying gifts, as they may not be as knowledgeable about the product itself but are attracted by the packaging and included figure and card.
Upon its release in October, fans will have the opportunity to assess the value of the Charizard ex Super-Premium Collection for themselves.
