Pokemon TCG Pocket Developers Acknowledge Players’ Concerns About Mythical Island

The developers behind Pokemon TCG Pocket have recently announced significant news regarding the game’s Pack Points, particularly with the imminent launch of the Mythical Island set.

Exciting Expansion: Mythical Island Booster Packs

Pokemon TCG Pocket is gearing up for its first major expansion, introducing the eagerly awaited Mythical Island booster packs. Enthusiastic players are already devising innovative strategies, fueled by the unveiling of powerful new cards such as Mew EX and a fresh variant of Vaporeon.

Prepare with Pack Hourglasses

In preparation for this major update, players have been stockpiling Pack Hourglasses, allowing them to maximize their booster openings on the release date. Additionally, an in-game event is currently underway to aid players in accumulating resources. However, one resource that won’t be transferable is Pack Points.

Understanding Pack Points: No Transfers Between Sets

Recent updates to the FAQs on the official Pokemon TCG Pocket website clarify a crucial aspect for players: Pack Points earned through previous sets will not carry over. Specifically, any Pack Points accumulated from the Genetic Apex expansion will be inapplicable for purchasing cards from the Mythical Island set.

What Are Pack Points?

For those unfamiliar, Pack Points serve as a vital resource in the crafting system of Pokemon TCG Pocket. Players receive five Pack Points each time they open a booster pack, which can be utilized to craft any card that they may be missing in their collection.

Key Changes Ahead

However, the upcoming changes mean that these points will soon have more restrictions. With the addition of multiple sets, the developers need to update the FAQs to help players navigate this new landscape.

The latest FAQ statement mentions, “Opening booster packs of a given expansion earns you Pack Points for that expansion. Those points can be exchanged only for cards that appear in that expansion.” Each expansion is distinguished by a unique code that defines which cards belong to specific booster packs.

For instance, the Genetic Apex set carries the code A1, while the new Mythical Island expansion is labeled A1a. Consequently, Pack Points acquired from the previous set won’t apply to crafting from the new batch. Although there were hints in the game’s text suggesting this possibility, this marks the first authoritative confirmation.

A Silver Lining for Players

On a positive note, players can utilize their existing Pack Points to finalize any missing cards they need before the Mythical Island expansion drops on December 17, 2024. This enables them to enjoy a seamless transition into the new content without falling behind.
