Pokemon TCG Pocket Players Call for Changes to “Frustrating” Feature

Players of Pokemon TCG Pocket are expressing their frustration over a key social feature, the Community Showcase, which they deem to be poorly designed and in need of significant improvement.

Since its launch in late October 2024, Pokemon TCG Pocket has rapidly gained popularity, attracting both long-time fans and newcomers to the Pokémon universe. With the release of the latest expansion, Mythical Island, the game’s meta has shifted dramatically, adding a plethora of new cards such as Mew ex, Aerodactyl ex, and more.

Despite the wealth of new content introduced in this recent update, the player community remains actively engaged, suggesting enhancements and new features to elevate the overall gaming experience in Pokemon TCG Pocket.

The Community Showcase feature enables players to showcase their favorite cards and collections within Pokemon TCG Pocket. Although the gameplay primarily revolves around solo player versus player (PvP) competitions, this feature aims to foster a sense of community by allowing users to display their prized cards.

Players have two options for showcasing their cards: the Display Board, which presents a single card at a time, or the Binder, which accommodates up to 30 cards. This feature acts as a trophy showcase, allowing other players to “like” displayed collections. Additionally, players can utilize a selection of pre-defined hashtags to enhance visibility, similar to functionalities found on popular social media platforms.

As an incentive for community engagement, players receive Shop Tickets for each “like” their showcases accumulate, encouraging them to present their rarest and most coveted cards.

Calls for Revamping the Community Showcase

The feedback regarding the Community Showcase isn’t limited to any single aspect; players are advocating for a complete overhaul of the feature. A recent Reddit discussion, which has garnered over 1,600 likes, highlighted the community’s dissatisfaction with the excessive space utilized by the showcase, which detracts from the enjoyment of the cards and their artwork.

One user emphasized the need for an improved user experience: “Users should be able to simply swipe through and look at everything in a large enough format that the art can be enjoyed, like a gallery.” Currently, players must click on each display for a full view of the collections, often only seeing a teaser on the initial screen. As a result, many feel less inclined to explore other players’ profiles without a proper visual overview.

Further elaboration from players about the limitations of the Community Showcase paints a humorous yet pointed critique of its design. Some joked that “the UI/UX designer was given the explicit task of making the most infuriating design possible while still functionally working.”

With a trading feature set to launch in January, Pokemon TCG Pocket is on track to emphasize the social aspect of gameplay, potentially paving the way for a future redesign of Community Showcase. However, there has been no official communication from developers regarding a timeline for updates to this feature.
