The Pokemon Company has unveiled a web-exclusive animated short showcasing the adventures of a young boy and his Primeape. While the franchise is well-known for its animated adaptations, this particular short is capturing substantial attention from fans online due to its exceptional quality and the talented team behind the animation.
Pokemon’s official Japanese YouTube channel shared the video, which is officially designated as a “PokeToon” and marks the latest installment in a series of animations under this title.
This specific PokeToon features a young boy and his Primeape facing off against an opponent with a Houndoom and a Baxcalibur. Baxcalibur is a Dragon and Ice-type Pokemon from the world of Pokemon Scarlet & Violet, specifically from the region of Paldea.
A clip of the PokeToon was shared on social media by Pokemon content creator Lewchube on X, and as of now, the clip has amassed over 30k likes, with numerous Pokemon fans commenting to express their admiration for the animation.
In their post, Lewchube described the animation as “gorgeous” and stated that it represented the “best these two designs have ever looked.”
Lewchube also pointed out that the PokeToon “features animation staff from CHAINSAW MAN, Castlevania, and Shadowverse,” a detail supported by the credits of the short.
The animation was crafted by Seishirou Nagaya, known for his role as a Key Animator on Chainsaw Man and for his contribution to Battle Concept Design on Shadowverse. Additionally, Art Director Tanioka Yoshio has impressive credits, including work on Bleach and even Neon Genesis Evangelion Rebuild.
Fans have flooded the comments section of the viral post with enthusiastic feedback. One user remarked, “PRIMEAPE HAS NEVER LOOKED AS COOL AS IT DID HERE!!!!” while another chimed in, “As a huge fan of both Pokemon, this made me so damn happy to see.”
Many viewers also expressed their delight at Baxcalibur’s portrayal, with some noting that the games haven’t quite done it justice. One comment stated, “Baxcalibur is a bosssss” and another added, “Let’s go for more Baxcalibur redemption.”
