Popular Twitch streamer Pokimane shared insight into her dating experiences, including her unsuccessful attempt to join the exclusive celebrity dating app Raya.
Imane ‘Pokimane’ Anys previously announced in the summer that she was experiencing a break-up with her long-time partner. In August, she provided her viewers with an update on the situation.
During a YouTube vlog, Pokimane shared that she felt somewhat frustrated when attempting to join Raya, a dating app exclusively for celebrities that mandates verification.
Per Pokimane, navigating the dating scene in LA can be difficult due to her struggles in making new connections, even at social events, where she has found people to be less than welcoming.
She remembered that dating apps are one of the most effective ways to find a date, but in the past, when she attempted to use them, she was constantly reported by others who believed she was pretending to be someone else.
The segment starts at 11:30.
Raya is a dating app where you have to apply for membership. It prides itself on being exclusive and popular among celebrities. Personally, I find the application process to be cringe-worthy. However, I also acknowledge that it might be my best chance at finding a decent partner.
Anys proceeded to describe how she had submitted her application three months prior and patiently waited for several weeks before receiving an update on her potential acceptance. Unfortunately, the outcome was not the one that the popular Twitch streamer, Pokimane, had been anticipating.
After clicking the next button, a message appeared stating, “you’ve been waitlisted. We regularly review our waitlist and will provide an update soon.”I was taken aback and couldn’t help but exclaim, “What do you mean?”I was not trying to boast, but I am surprised that after making me wait for two months, I have now been waitlisted.
Perhaps I am not exceptionally well-known or successful, but I am not terrible either. However, I am currently feeling quite angry. As a result of my pettiness, I have no desire to use it anymore. You rejected me, so I have no interest in you either.
Despite not being a member of Raya, Poki expresses contentment with the strides she has taken in her personal growth and self-care.
Despite being used by celebrities like Charli XCX, who described the app as “a little bit bougie and annoying,”and Addison Rae, who expressed dissatisfaction with the requirement to choose a song for one’s profile, Raya remains popular among its users.
