Twitch sensation Imane ‘Pokimane’ Anys recently recounted a shocking experience involving an overly forward Uber driver during an episode of her podcast with LilyPichu in October.
As the most-followed female content creator on Twitch, Pokimane has amassed a treasure trove of anecdotes about various individuals who have attempted to engage with her romantically over the years.
During the ‘Sweet ‘n Sour’ podcast, aired on October 19, she shared a particularly memorable encounter with an Uber driver, prompting her to issue a reminder to rideshare professionals to refrain from flirting with passengers.
To avoid awkward situations or unwanted attention from drivers who may recognize her and learn her personal details, Pokimane often opts for premium rides through rideshare services.
Pokimane delivered a public service announcement during one podcast episode, advising drivers against flirting with their passengers following an unusual incident during an extended 40-minute drive.
Despite her reservations, one driver did not hold back and flirted with her throughout the ride. “He turned back to me and said, ‘If I had known I’d be driving someone this stunning, I would have called the paparazzi,’” she recounted.
The flirting persisted as they continued on their journey, with the driver expressing his desire for a Canadian spouse (as Pokimane is of Moroccan-Canadian descent) and even suggesting that they should celebrate Thanksgiving together, proposing they should “visit Nigeria” as well.
“When someone is responsible for the vehicle you’re in and effectively in charge of your safety, it’s difficult to reject their advances outright,” she elaborated. “You can never be certain how they might respond.”
Ultimately, Pokimane chose to gracefully decline his advances, explaining that she only shares her number with mutual acquaintances and even accepted his business card as a friendly gesture.

Fortunately, this peculiar encounter turned into an amusing narrative for her audience; however, Pokimane stressed that drivers should never engage in flirting with their passengers, regardless of the situation.
This experience isn’t the only awkward run-in Pokimane has faced with Uber drivers. She also shared a tale of how one driver intervened to help her evade an older man attempting to get into her car and follow her home.
