Pokimane Explains Reason for Cancelling Her Solo Podcast “Don’t Tell Anyone”

Twitch sensation Pokimane recently shared insights into her decision to cancel her solo podcast, originally titled “Don’t Tell Anyone,” in favor of launching a collaborative show with fellow streamer LilyPichu.

Initially announced in November 2023, Pokimane’s solo podcast was intended to explore a variety of topics weekly. However, it came to a close in June 2024, paving the way for her duo podcast, Sweet n Sour, which debuted in September.

Curiosity among fans regarding the termination of her solo podcast led Pokimane to discuss the reasons during an appearance on JSchaltt and Ted Nivison’s Chuckle Sandwich podcast.

The Challenges of Solo Podcasting

In her conversation, Pokimane expressed the inherent difficulties associated with solo podcasting. She acknowledged the challenges of maintaining content flow, stating, “I did that for a season, and honestly, at some point, it’s just like ‘I ain’t got more to say. I told all my stories.’”

Ted Nivison chimed in, sharing his own struggles with the idea of hosting a solo podcast. He highlighted the intricate process of generating engaging topics week after week.

Pokimane elaborated on this struggle, mentioning, “I also stream for hours a day. It’s less so about talking to myself, that I can do just fine. It’s more so coming up with a worthwhile topic every week and then planning out an entire episode.” She noted, “If I just get on the microphone and yap about anything, I could.” However, she find creating well-structured, lengthy episodes exceedingly challenging.

She added, “I tried to do more structured episodes, and for more than an hour it was like doing a video episode. Very difficult,” emphasizing the effort required to keep content fresh and engaging.

Describing it as a “life-changing” opportunity, she ultimately decided to remain with Twitch, solidifying her status as one of the platform’s most prominent content creators.
