Pokimane Reacts to Controversial Kick from Kyedae Over Offer Accusations

Twitch personality Pokimane was taken aback by a former Kick employee’s allegations against the company, labeling the streaming platform as “wicked”for reportedly making a proposal to a content creator who was battling cancer.

Upon the release of a nearly 20-minute-long video by a former employee named Melissa, Kick has been facing intense scrutiny for allegedly fostering an “extremely hostile”work environment.

Melissa made a shocking allegation that the company was attempting to underpay a streamer who was fighting cancer. She stated that they used the excuse that the streamer may not live much longer and would want to leave more money for her family as a way to offer her less compensation.

Melissa’s statements have quickly gained widespread attention on social media, eliciting strong responses from notable figures such as xQc. Prominent Twitch streamer Imane ‘Pokimane’ Anys has since shared her thoughts on the matter.

During a June 18 broadcast, she was completely speechless after watching Melissa’s video about the streamer with cancer, which left a strong impact on her.

After pausing the video and taking a moment to gather her thoughts, Pokimane exclaimed, “That’s not just weird, it’s downright evil!”

“At the start of the video, she mentioned that she believed someone is considering leaving Kick. She also expressed her belief that the company is not currently experiencing a lot of growth, unlike the initial launch. However, she clarified that this is not the general opinion at the moment.”

“What truly disturbs me is that these individuals are most likely adults in their twenties, thirties, and forties, and yet they are engaging in this type of behavior in a professional setting. It’s one thing to witness such behavior in video games, where children may try to provoke reactions from others, but to see grown men with jobs acting in this manner is truly concerning.”

There was a widespread belief that the streamer Melissa was mentioning was Kyedae, who had fought against Leukemia in 2023. Although xQc claimed to have spoken with Kick’s leadership and confirmed that they did not make an offer to her, Kyedae later confirmed on June 19 that they had indeed reached out to her and that she had declined the offer.

Despite this not being the first instance, Pokimane has once again publicly expressed her disapproval of Kick. She had previously targeted the platform when she announced her departure from Twitch earlier this year, dismissing speculations of her moving to Kick.

“She explained that she chooses not to stream on Kick due to its association with online crypto gambling websites that operate illegally in many countries. In her opinion, these websites are questionable and she would not want to lead her audience to potentially develop an addiction by streaming on a platform connected to them.”

Despite the ongoing backlash against the company online, it is evident that Pokimane does not have a fondness for Kick and is remaining steadfast in her stance.
