Twitch sensation Pokimane found herself in a shocking situation when a celebrity stylist and a salon made unauthorized charges to her credit card after their services.
Imane ‘Pokimane’ Anys is one of the leading creators on Twitch, yet despite her immense popularity, she’s faced some unfortunate incidents recently.
In 2022, the streamer publicly exposed a disturbing influencer scam attempting to obtain her photos, and more recently, she dealt with the leak of her phone number online.
During a live broadcast, Pokimane shared additional misfortunes while reviewing her financial statements.
Pokimane recounted that after assessing her credit card charges, she discovered that following an eyebrow treatment in January, the spa had charged her a total of 20 times leading up to October.
“Numerous hundreds of dollars over the last eight to nine months, and I only went there once!” she exclaimed. “Every month, they’d charge me $800 here and there. I messaged the salon owner about it, and she said, ‘that’s crazy; that never happens!’ I’m like, ‘I can show you the charges, but then what? I suspect finance professionals will deem it as fraud.’”
Moreover, Pokimane mentioned her interaction with a celebrity stylist known for working with more prominent figures. She provided her credit card details for clothing purchases.
Anys revealed that she received an alert about a $5,000 charge from a boutique in New York. “I thought to myself, ‘Hmm, I’m not in New York shopping for shoes. This is bizarre.’ I began connecting the dots and realized the last person to whom I shared my credit card information was her, so I reached out to her.”
Pokimane has remained one of Twitch’s top streamers for years.
According to her, the stylist explained that her assistant had mistakenly purchased the shoes using her card. Pokimane also noted that she had been styled just the month prior, making this incident even stranger.
The streamer added that the stylist assured her they would reimburse her, but she needed to verify if the money could be returned. However, she made it clear that she wouldn’t be collaborating with them again to avoid similar issues in the future.
This incident isn’t the first credit card controversy Pokimane has faced. Earlier in 2024, viewers reportedly used stolen credit cards to place $500K bids to game with her during CDawgVA’s charity auction.
