During a routine press conference held on August 19th, a representative from the National Police Agency stated that they were currently arranging a date for Suga to be summoned to the police station. They also mentioned that they would thoroughly investigate the incident of Suga riding an electric scooter while under the influence of alcohol.
In relation to the investigation of Suga’s drunk driving, it was reported that the police would not conduct investigations at night or summon Suga on weekends.
The police stated that they will handle Suga’s police photoline in the same manner as any other suspect. They also mentioned that the procedure for summoning him will be the same as with any other suspects.
The police were questioned about Suga and his agency Big Hit Music’s claim that his license was revoked and fines were imposed during the ongoing investigation. The police responded by stating that there should have been an explanation of the remaining procedures. They also mentioned that the agency’s statement may have been influenced by Suga’s state of intoxication, which could have affected his ability to recall the situation accurately. Additionally, the police emphasized the importance of providing an explanation for the subsequent procedures when dealing with cases of drunk driving.
On August 6th, at 11:27 p.m., Suga was discovered falling off an electric scooter on the streets of Hannam-dong, Yongsan-gu, Seoul. A police officer who happened to be walking by assisted Suga and observed that he appeared to be under the influence of alcohol. As a result, the officer brought Suga to the police station for a breathalyzer test, which revealed a blood alcohol level of 0.227%, exceeding the legal limit for driving and potentially resulting in the revocation of his license.
Suga issued an apology on Weverse, the fan communication platform, on the 7th, acknowledging his violation of the Road Traffic Act and providing an explanation of the circumstances.
Currently, Suga is fulfilling his mandatory military service as a social service worker. He is scheduled to complete his service in June of next year.
