During a regular press conference, Acting Commissioner Park Hyun-soo of the Seoul Metropolitan Police shared that the inquiry into the defamation claim against Kim Soo-hyun will commence following a report made at the Gangnam Police Station on March 20. Park confirmed that the first steps will include conversing with the complainant as part of the investigation process.

Addressing the defamation case involving YouTuber Lee Jin-ho and Kim Sae-ron, Park indicated that this file has been shifted to the Seodaemun Police Station as of March 17, with further questioning of the complainant scheduled soon.

The controversy heightened when the YouTube channel “Garo Sero Research Institute” published images allegedly received from Kim Sae-ron’s family. These images suggested a romantic relationship between Kim Soo-hyun and Kim Sae-ron that reportedly began in November 2015 when Kim Sae-ron was still a minor. Initially, Kim Soo-hyun’s representatives denied these claims, but shifted their position after further photographic evidence emerged, confirming their relationship took place once Kim Sae-ron was of legal age.

Legal Actions Following Recent Events

The allegations regarding Kim Soo-hyun and Kim Sae-ron’s relationship were reported to the Gangnam Police Station on March 20 by the Garo Sero Research Institute.

Simultaneously, on March 19, an attorney representing Kim Sae-ron, Boo Ji-seok of Boo Yoo Law Firm, filed a defamation lawsuit against YouTuber Lee Jin-ho for disseminating falsehoods. Lee has been known for producing content that refuted the notion of a past romantic connection between Kim Sae-ron and Kim Soo-hyun. Following the tragic news of Kim Sae-ron’s death on February 16, Lee has made all related videos private.

Earlier, Kim Sae-ron gained attention for being charged with driving under the influence in May 2022 in the Sinsa-dong area, leading to a court-imposed fine of 2 million won the following year. Reports indicate that Kim faced significant financial struggles prior to her passing.

In a separate note, authorities provided information regarding the passing of singer Wheesung, stating that a syringe was discovered near his remains. They noted, “A post-mortem was conducted on the 12th, and the initial cause of death is undetermined. We are conducting further tests, and additional inquiries will proceed based on those results.”
