SBS News reported on July 26th that a well-known psychiatric hospital in Bucheon, Gyeonggi-do discovered the body of a 33-year-old woman who had passed away.
SBS News has released CCTV footage that captures the events leading up to the patient’s death. According to the footage, at approximately 1 a.m. on May 27th, the female patient urgently requested to be let out of her room due to abdominal issues. Despite her pleas, a nurse and doctor entered the room and administered medication before restraining her on the bed and exiting.
Despite the medical staff and nurses arriving shortly after, the woman had already lost consciousness. They performed emergency response for five minutes before proceeding to administer CPR. Unfortunately, their efforts proved to be too late as the patient could not be revived and was diagnosed with intestinal pseudo-obstruction.
During the SBS News interview, the mother of the patient revealed that they specifically selected this renowned hospital for her daughter’s addiction to diet pills due to its dedicated program for treating addictions. The hospital and medical staff involved were not disclosed by SBS, who only alluded to the fact that the owner of the hospital is well-known.
As soon as the news was broadcasted, internet users uncovered that the incident occurred at W Jin Hospital and involved psychiatrist Yang Jae-woong, who had recently become engaged to EXID’s Hani.
Despite the hospital’s assertion that the doctors and nurses exhausted all emergency measures, they were unable to save the patient. As a result, the patient’s family lodged a complaint with the police, leading to an investigation into the hospital staff and directors for potential violations of Medical Law.
Yang Jae-woong has yet to make a statement regarding his involvement in this accident.
