Players of Baldur’s Gate 3 came together to look back on some of the game’s bugs that had been fixed, expressing their desire for them to remain as permanent features.
During its Early Access phase and up until its official release in 2023, Baldur’s Gate 3 encountered various bugs which were promptly addressed by Larian’s development team.
Certain bugs have a major impact on gameplay, like the glitch that causes characters to slip off platforms and fall into oblivion. Meanwhile, there are also more comical bugs, like the one where TAV gets unintentionally stuck to Halsin.
On Reddit, players discussed the bugs they enjoyed the most and hoped would remain in the game.
A well-known bug involved Shadowheart’s response to TAV’s offer of their blood to Astarion. It was discovered that Shadowheart would become aware of this personal camp activity and disapprove from a distance.
One Baldur’s Gate 3 player actually found the bug to make perfect sense. Shadowheart, known for her disapproval of the ‘Bloodless’ debuff, expressed frustration at having to put in extra effort and use up her healing spells. As they put it, “Shadowheart was constantly complaining, ‘Every morning I have to cast Lesser Restoration! Come on!’”
One of the most beloved bugs among fans was Gale’s camping spot in the Shadow Curse area, where he would pitch his tent in a puddle. One player fondly remembered, “I find it amusing that despite Mystra’s orders for him to explode, he stubbornly insists that he is perfectly fine and proceeds to set up his tent in a puddle.”
Gale’s “Depression Puddle”quickly became a recurring joke among fans, joking that he must have chosen that spot because it reminded him of his hometown of Waterdeep.
The Mundane Chest was another fan-favorite glitch in Baldur’s Gate 3. It functioned similarly to a less expensive version of the Bag of Holding. One player fondly remarked, “We all adored it. It was like a Costco ‘Kirkland’ branded Bag of Holding. It was fantastic.”
The weight limitations of the chest have been a source of disappointment for players who appreciated its convenience.
Despite the changes, Baldur’s Gate 3 remains a thriving game, with the release of Patch 7 scheduled for September. Larian Studios continues to prioritize updating the game while also working on an intriguing new project.
