Possible Appearance of Popular Character in Marvel Rivals Closed Beta

The Closed Beta Test for Marvel Rivals is approaching in a matter of weeks, and in anticipation, NetEase Games has unveiled a new trailer teasing the addition of a beloved character to the game.

The highly anticipated game, Marvel Rivals, has gained immense popularity after its Closed Alpha Test in May 2024, which was developed by NetEase and has a similar style to Overwatch. Although the Alpha only permitted a limited number of players from North America, the Beta version is set to be released with five times the number of players and will be available in various regions.

The upcoming Closed Beta will offer a range of exciting new features, including cross-progression and additional maps. Among these maps is the Tokyo 2099: Spider-Islands map, which follows the story of Master Weaver and Spider-Zero. This beta will be accessible to both Console and PC players.

NetEase presented the area themed after neo-futuristic Japanese architecture in a new cinematic trailer for the map, showcasing the preservation efforts of Master Weaver.

Despite being close to the end of the trailer, fans were quick to spot an easter egg that hinted at the possible addition of Psylocke from the X-Men franchise as the next hero during closed beta.

The pink butterfly seen at the conclusion of the trailer bears a resemblance to Psylocke’s signature energy wings, which were quickly recognized by fans. In fact, one fan even posted a picture and questioned, “Am I the only one seeing a potential Psylocke teaser here?”

“Adding to the discussion, another user commented, “I appreciate Rivals’ approach of including lesser-known characters in Marvel instead of just focusing on the popular ones.”A third individual remarked, “The pink butterfly move is a signature move for Psylocke.”

NetEase has officially confirmed that Venom and Adam Warlock will be joining the extensive roster of Marvel Rivals as new characters in the Closed Beta.

Similarly, players can anticipate sign-ups for the beta during the first few weeks of July, as they will be required to complete a comparable form to the one used for the alpha in order to obtain access to the game.
